Bio

Attorney Sean P. Driscoll is the founder and principal of Driscoll Law Group in Chicago, Illinois. Sean has followed in his father’s footsteps and represents individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by another’s negligence. He was drawn into the practice of personal injury due the desire to take care of those who have been hurt. Since, 2006, his practice concentrates in litigation and trial work representing individuals who have suffered catastrophic personal injury, medical malpractice and wrongful death throughout Illinois and the country. Sean has tried cases to verdict in both state and federal courts, obtaining millions of dollars on behalf of his clients. One of the defining cases of Sean’s career, he represented two families who lost their teenage children in a grain bin incident. There, Sean handled every phase of the case through discovery and eventually trial, where he obtained a $16 Million Dollar Verdict.

As a trial lawyer, Sean’s philosophy is to work hard for his clients and prosecute their cases with tenacity and integrity. Since 2006, Sean has obtained over $250 Million dollars in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients. Sean has handled trucking, wrongful death, injury, and highly complex railroad cases earning him a reputation as top-rated and highly respected Chicago personal injury attorney.   • 4.5 Million Dollar Settlement for 62-year-old man that died in an industrial incident.

Sean had also handled several complex railroad cases, including the 2007 derailment of Amtrak 371 in Chicago; the 2017 derailment of Amtrak 501 in DuPont, Washington; the 2006 derailment of the CTA Blue Line Train in Chicago; the 2005 derailment of Metra Train 504; and the Union Pacific bridge collapse in Glenview, Illinois in 2012. Sean is also currently handling the 2021 derailment of Amtrak Empire Builder train in Joplin, Montana.

Due to Sean’s experience and handling of complex litigation, he has been interviewed and quoted by several news organizations throughout the country, including the New York Times, The Seattle Times, U.S. News, The Associated Press, The Washington Times and CNN, to name a few.

Most recently, Sean obtained a verdict of 16.75 Million dollars in Federal District Court in Tacoma, Washington, representing two individuals injured in the Amtrak 501 Derailment in Du Pont, Washington. After the verdict, Sean successfully settled the remaining cases for $56,780,000. Then in 2023, Sean obtained a Million-dollar verdict in a medical mal-practice case where the plaintiff sustained a permanent injury to his right upper extremity after a failed rotator cuff surgery.

At present, Sean is working on several cases, ranging from industrial incidents to medical malpractice cases. Sean handles each case with care, thoughtfulness, and thoroughness. Sean has received numerous awards and honors by his peers. Sean was named Chicago Top 40 under 40 in 2011 and has been recognized as a rising star in the legal community. He received the Jury Verdict Reporter Trial Lawyer Excellence Award in 2015. He was also named number 2 on Top 10 Emerging Lawyers List published by Leading Lawyers in 2020. Most recently, he was recognized by Best Lawyers in both 2023 and 2024.

Sean was born in Elk Gove Village and grew-up in Barrington, Illinois. Sean is one of four sons born to a elementary school teacher and Lawyer. He attended the University of Dayton for his undergraduate degree and DePaul University College of Law. Sean currently lives in Glen Ellyn, Illinois with his wife and three children. Despite being a devoted father, Sean is active in Knights of Columbus and his parish, St. Petronille. He also gives back to the profession and regularly give presentations for continuing legal education.
